About the Conjola Recovery Fund

The Conjola Community Support Team is a group of local volunteers focused on helping the Conjola community through the recovery process.

The Conjola Community Support Team has established a ‘Conjola Recovery Fund’ to facilitate the reconstruction of our community and meeting the needs of individuals in the community.

The Conjola Recovery Fund has been registered as a charity to allow the Recovery Team to receive donations from the public and to dispense these funds directly to bushfire affected people in Conjola and surrounding areas, from Yatte Yattah to Fishermans Paradise and communities in between.

Our prime focus is on Conjola Park recovery, consistent with our priorities:

  1. Helping all displaced Conjola residents and other affected residents.
  2. Making sure no one slips through the cracks.
  3. Collecting ideas from the community for the long-term recovery.

A Recovery Fund Distribution Team has been established to overseer and implement with transparency and accountability of funds in our care.

Auditors and Accountants have been appointed. Their services are provided free-of-charge in pursuit of priorities. We have no financial retainers to meet our administrative needs.

We are not a Government organisation and your funds come from the generosity of people far and wide.

Distribution of Funds

We clearly understand that the journey to full recovery will take some time, possibly 1- 3 years. In that time, needs of the community will change as we move forward to full reconstruction.

We will be looking to distribute funds to meet:

. Short term needs – immediate financial relief

These needs have been met through distribution of cash, retail vouchers, food, goods and services.

Medium term needs (6 – 12 months) – Assistance with household goods, establishing gardens, landscaping, community projects, workshops and community services.

The Recovery Team is at this stage - assisting those currently still displaced out of area and those already starting their rebuild process. Additionally the Team is planning future projects for the community within the Conjola Strategic Action Plan 2014-2030. This plan was developed with wide community consultation and agreed by Shoalhaven City Council in 2014. Post bushfires, there is an opportunity to see greater action taken with some of the listed projects.

Long term goals (12+ months) – how we as a community envision our community in the future. For example, a Memorial Park on Conjola Park, shared use paths linking our various communities, a thriving healthy lake and environment.

A Connected Communities Concept Plan and shared pathways from Conjola Park to the beach was developed pro bono. This is now being worked further into a Master Plan ready for consultation with the community and approval by the Shoalhaven City Council. The top priority is the completion of Hoylake Grove park with a covered area, bbqs, toilets and start of a shared pathway. It is envisaged that works will be undertaken in consultation with and financial assistance of Shoalhaven City Council as the Recovery Fund has insufficient funds for a project of this nature. We will work collaboratively with the Conjola Community Association to achieve a healthy lake and environment.

Your suggestions, ideas and visions as to how we may all benefit as a community is welcome.

Funding Distribution

Funding will be distributed to meet these short, medium- and long-term goals.

‘Rounds’ of funding will be released as more funds become available.

You may only apply ONCE during each Round of funding release.
